I downloaded MC from the official website and when I try to launch the Launcher Installer it opens and it says "Making things awesome" and the progress bar never moves. I've tried closing it and reopening it. I've also tried deleting it and redownloading Minecraft from the official website. If it doesn't work, I'll be trying Java edition.
The latest launcher (released on Nov 2) has not been resolved for many players.

Assuming that you own the game, and you are not connected to GamePass, download/install the Windows 7/8 launcher. It's what they call "the launcher" that we have been using for years. (Link)
To stop the upgrade nag, right-click on the old launcher shortcut and change compatibility to Windows 8 under the Compatibility tab.
You are a lifesaver! It wouldn't install after I downloaded it. I had the same problem as the person who posted this. It worked!
PSScroll down the link and you'll find an the option that says launcher for Windows 7/8 and the download can be downloaded from there. I'm stupid. I kept downloading windows 10/11 repeatedly.
